Super Mario Galaxy Film Trailer Is Here, Introducing Rosalina and Bowser Jr. Voices

The collaboration between Nintendo and Illumination shared the first full-length trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie this Wednesday. The reveal happened in a special Nintendo Direct that centered on the soon-to-release cartoon movie.

The follow-up to the 2023 hit film The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this latest chapter will send Mario to the distant reaches of the galaxy. Along the way, he discovers a fresh princess character and a formidable new rival in Bowser Jr., the son of the King of the Koopas.

A Cosmic Adventure Inspired by Beloved Titles

In the vein of the games from the Wii period that provide its foundation, Mario will venture away from the familiar comforts of the Mushroom Kingdom to journey through the cosmos. During his grand adventure, he will reunite with some well-known personalities, including the Luma, a fan favorite from the original cinematic release.

But it appears Mario and his brother Luigi will face a fresh enemy in the form of Bowser's angry little boy, who reportedly utilizes powers related to metal. Worth mentioning, the teaser for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not exclusively centered on Galaxy-inspired imagery; it also contains hints to additional popular titles like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.

Celebrity Voice Actors Come Back and Grow

The film will welcome back of the primary vocal talent, including Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.

New additions to the ensemble for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will portray Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to embody Bowser Jr. This was confirmed by the CEO of Illumination, Chris Meledandri.

A Big Year for Mario

The new Mario movie is planned to debut close to the 40th anniversary of the initial Super Mario Bros. release. In addition to the movie, 2026 looks set to be a important time for Mario and his allies.

The company has a trio of new releases publicly declared for 2026, including Mario Tennis Fever, a version for Switch 2 of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a new Yoshi platformer titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.
