Canada's Blue Jays Earn World Series Showdown Versus defending champion Dodgers

George Springer celebrating

The outfielder previously helped the Houston Astros claiming the championship in the 2017 season.

Toronto's Blue Jays advanced to their first championship series after the 1993 season by defeating the Mariners in the final seventh game of the AL Championship Series.

Trailing by two runs, outfielder George Springer hit a three-run blast in the seventh inning, guiding the sole Canadian team in the majors to a 4-3 series victory in the series. Next up are the defending champions, holders of the reigning title, in the forthcoming World Series.

"I'm just so happy for this squad, our city, the nation," Springer stated, an integral part of the Houston Astros team that won the 2017 title. "This is such an amazing experience."

Springer has now slugged 23 playoff homers, making him third on the list after Ramirez (twenty-nine) and Jose Altuve (27).

"I can't think of another player anywhere that I want up in that spot besides him with his post-season brilliance," noted Schneider.

Seattle, who had led the series 2-0 and 3-2, continue to be the one club that has never reached in a World Series.

Mariners manager Dan Wilson stated "without a doubt that it's painful" in the wake of his side's defeat at Rogers Centre, but praised their efforts this season.

"They're an exceptional squad. Sadly that we had to come out on the losing end of this game," he added.

The Blue Jays secured the World Series on their two prior appearances in 1992 and '93, and are set to host the Los Angeles in game one on this Friday.
