Barcelona Ready for Inaugural Match at Upgraded Camp Nou over the weekend

Barcelona have announced they will play at the still-under-construction Camp Nou over the weekend. Athletic Bilbao will visit Athletic Bilbao in the Spanish league over two years after they moved out to allow renovations to start.

“We’ve dreamed about the return. Now, it’s here. We’re back home. Back at Spotify Camp Nou.”

The stadium will not be at full capacity but 45,401 spectators are permitted inside as per the current authorization. When completed, the stadium’s capacity will reach almost 105,000 spectators, increasing from the former 99,000. The club said finished work included an updated entryway for the team and new dressing rooms.

Stadium Testing

Barça organized an open training session inside the stadium earlier this month. The club said approval is being pursued by UEFA for their upcoming Champions League fixture versus the German side on 9 December at Camp Nou. Previous fixtures took place in the temporary ground.
